Screen Printing from Life - Weekend

This summer we are delighted to offer a 4 day intensive, beginning first with a day of life drawing, followed by an introduction to screen printing aimed at creatives from other disciplines. Screen printing hand drawn imagery has always been close to facilitator Sarah Galloway's heart, and some of her earliest glass designs produced during her MA included screen printed images drawn from life. Life drawing at Assembly Arts is a dynamic, exploratory experience designed for those with some prior drawing practice —whether from life drawing or other forms of observational drawing. These sessions will challenge you to push beyond familiar approaches, experimenting with composition, materials, and technique. On this course you will: - generate quick and long pose life drawings from a model - use a range of drawing materials, including pencil, charcoal and ink - learn how to translate these into screens which you will then use to - pull multiple screens - learning how to register your prints - produce multiple prints - play with composition and colour. - try printing onto different natural materials such as linen and wood (supplied by you - please discuss your ideas with Sarah) You should come away from the course feeling excited about the possibilities that screen printing could bring to your art practice on a wider scale, and feeling confident to hire the screen printing room for future practice.
