In general, we are open by appointment only, so please arrange a time with us by email first.

Accessibility

The most convenient disabled parking is on Common Market Street, with a stair free route to our Gallery. Please be aware that our facilities are predominantly upstairs. We have successfully hosted people with many different requirements (including wheelchair users and those with impaired vision) by making the most of our gallery space on the ground floor.
We are awaiting repairs to our stairlift, please email us before visiting or booking to discuss any accessibility requirements.

History of Our Building

Assembly Arts are proud to be based in the beautiful Assembly Rooms, an 18th century grade 2 listed heritage building dating from 1759.

The lovely Georgian building which is abundant with history and character provided a venue for concerts and balls and raised money to support the adjoining alms-houses on King Street.

In easy reach of both the railway and bus stations, the building is located in historic Lancaster city centre. Click here to read more about the history of our building in the Journal.
