Service Description

Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, you can join Sarah Galloway for an in-depth, personalized Creative Glass workshop. The workshop is designed for all skill levels, so no prior experience is required. You'll receive hands-on guidance throughout the process, allowing you to work on your own creative project during the session. Resin colours, pigments, paper and equipment are all included in the price. However there will be additional costs incurred for the glass and sandblasting. Please budget for at least an additional £200 of costs over the course of each project for approximately 500x400mm glass. Here is an example of what you may do during your first set of sessions: First sessions: Artwork and glass panel design generation. Working with a chosen theme you will start creating and constructing design ideas for your glass panel, using a range of paper based processes. As you will need to have some idea of what subject you would like to work with (for example, natural forms, shells, architecture perhaps) it would be good if you can collect images (magazines, newspaper, photocopies, postcards etc) and bring them to the first session. If you have some initial ideas if you email information to Sarah she can also look for artists and information on your behalf. In this session you will be exploring your ideas using different drawing methods and collage to originate design ideas for your glass work. Continuing: Artwork generation: continue creating and constructing design ideas for the glass panel. Transfer the designs for sandblast onto the glass samples and cut the vinyl. Session 3 and beyond: Put vinyl onto the glass panel and cut the design. Then work with colour glass resins on to the glass panel. Private sessions can also been an ideal opportunity for those looking to refine their skills, or for those trying to create a specific effect or outcome. Please bring an apron or an old shirt to wear as you are likely to get ink and resin on your clothes. A sketchbook and or notebook would be useful.
