We are excited to announce that Assembly Arts will be opening its doors for an all-day Open Studios event on Saturday, 14th September 2024, from 10am to 5pm.
This is a unique opportunity to meet the talented resident artists who call Assembly Arts their creative home. You’ll have the chance to explore their workspaces, view works-in-progress, and discover the wide variety of artistic disciplines on display, from painting to ceramics, photography, and more. Learn more about our resident artists here.
Event Highlights:
Artist Talk by Andrew Craig Jones: At 2pm, Andrew Craig Jones will give an insightful talk about his current exhibition Undercover, which is on display in the gallery space. Andrew’s work, inspired by his time at Growing with Grace, explores the natural world and the hidden beauty beneath glass canopies.
Building Tours with Alan Morris: Alan Morris will lead tours of our historic Grade 2 listed building, which includes the stunning old dance hall that now houses our artists' studios. You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at our facilities, which include screen printing, a photographic darkroom, and ceramics workshops.
Visitor Information:
No Booking Required: This event is free to attend, and no pre-booking is necessary. The gallery space is at street level, but please note that the studios are accessible only via a staircase.
Refreshments: While we won’t have refreshments on-site, the nearby cafe Holm is perfect for a quick coffee, cake, or sandwich during your visit.
Discover Assembly Arts: Our Open Studios event offers a glimpse into the creative heart of Assembly Arts and the vibrant community that resides here. It’s the perfect chance to get to know our artists, see the workspaces up close, and learn more about the history of our beautiful Assembly Rooms.
