Assembly Arts Membership

Housed in our purposed built dedicated studios, Assembly Arts offer non-assessed teaching embracing both practical skill development and idea generation: classes and groups which help participants to develop both a point of view and a body of work in a safe, encouraging environment.

We provide space for you to develop as an artist in an honest and authentic way. With the expert guidance and support of our resident Artists, you will be able to develop a portfolio as individual as you are.

Assembly Arts Members Groups

Our ethos at Assembly Arts is very much about learning from one another as creative practitioners and we have established three Members Groups to provide opportunities for collaboration and peer support: AnalyseArt Review and the Assembly Photographic Collective.

Analyse

Meeting monthly at 7pm on Tuesday evenings Analyse is an informal and friendly forum to discuss contemporary art practices. Led by the group and including invited speakers, the sessions are a great way to find out more about contemporary art, current trends and prevailing attitudes to creative practice. All Assembly Arts members are welcome to come along and the sessions are a great way to meet like minded artists and creative.  The group recently visited Leeds to see The Traumatic Surreal exhibition at the Henry Moore Institute.

Art Review

On the last Tuesday of the month, Art Review provides an opportunity to receive feedback about your art.  The evenings are an opportunity for you to get an idea of how your work is seen and perceived by other artists.  Members are invited to bring works in progress or finished work for the evening of facilitated and encouraging friendly feedback.

This is a chance to share a space with a mixed group of artists, from emerging to well established. The structured and informal sessions allow Members to receive supportive advice on how their work is seen. Expertly and sensitively led by artist and Creative Peers founder Hannah Browne, we understand that talking about your own work isn’t easy and you’ll be supported all the way.

Assembly Photographic Collective

Also meeting meeting monthly at 7pm on Tuesday evenings, the Assembly Photographic Collective aims to provide a supportive and collaborative space in which photographers in the Lancaster region can share their practice.  Emphasis is placed on socially and culturally engaged photography, including experimental and alternative techniques.

Underpinned by an ethos embracing a kind and respectful attitude, the group shares knowledge and experiences pertaining to photographic practice, including exploring mutually agreed topics and techniques.  Members have opportunities to expand and promote their practice including through group exhibitions, workshops and trips.

Assembly Arts offers two levels of membership: Primary* and Secondary.

Primary Membership runs for a year, and is aimed at creatives who are looking to explore their own artistic point of view.  It includes open access to our member meetings (which take place every Tuesday evening and cover a range of topics), members only social meetups and trips (this year the members have visited Pots in the Park, Glasgow galleries and  Leeds art Gallery). Primary membership also includes 20% off classes and discounted room hire. Membership is also a great opportunity to support us and help directly contribute to the growth of Assembly Arts.

Secondary Memberships offer additional benefits for those who are looking to develop their portfolio of work through the attendance of our classes. These Memberships run for a term rather than the year (although you're welcome to extend your Membership of course). They include all the benefits of Primary Membership, as well as one to one workshops, mentoring, and access to 3 or 4 courses over the three months - depending on your choice. Additionally, you will have a dedicated locker to keep your work safe between classes.

Please contact us directly for more information & to set up your membership - we welcome payment by BACS.

*Primary membership is £120 for the year, but students and under 25s can sign up for monthly rolling membership at £5 per month.

The studio is a laboratory, not a factory.
An exhibition is the result of your experiments,
but the process is never-ending. So an exhibition is not a conclusion.
