Gallery Show - Andrew Craig Jones Exhibition "Undercover"

Andrew Craig Jones, a talented visual artist known for his vibrant oil paintings, is showcasing his first solo exhibition with us this September. After spending the summer months as an informal artist-in-residence at Growing with Grace, an organic farm on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border, Andrew’s latest body of work is a rich exploration of nature, light, and life.

Andrew’s artistic journey began at The Glasgow School of Art, where he studied textile design. His career took him to Australia, where he spent over two decades working in textiles, interiors, and furniture design while simultaneously developing his painting practice. In 2022, he returned to Europe to study classical painting at the Barcelona Academy of Art. Drawing inspiration from nature, Andrew often paints small 'en plein air' studies, later refining them into larger studio works. His passion for botanical elements and outdoor settings is a central theme in his paintings.

"Undercover" offers a collection of oil paintings created within the lush interior landscapes of the greenhouses at Growing with Grace. What began as a plan for traditional still life compositions evolved into a celebration of the farm itself—a vibrant ecosystem under vast glass roofs, teeming with life. As an informal artist-in-residence, Andrew painted amidst the buzzing of bees, birdsong, and even the occasional appearance of a curious hare. His works capture the interplay of light, shadow, and nature’s abundant textures, with expressive and gestural strokes that reflect the fleeting beauty of the golden hour.

In Andrew’s words :"The farm became my outdoor summer studio, and in some ways, this work merges ‘en plein air’ with still life. Each piece offers a glimpse into the peaceful yet vibrant life that thrives under the glass canopies—a world of abundance, texture, and colour. I invite you to experience this hidden world through my paintings, to feel the energy and tranquillity they convey."

All of the works in Undercover are available for sale, offering collectors a chance to own a piece of Andrew’s expressive summer journey.
