Put your name down for the next Smart Phone Photography course by signing up here. This course will run on 5 or 6 consecutive Thursday Afternoons (£115 or £135 respectively). The dates included here are for illustrative purposes only. We will email you when there are at least 6 people on the waiting list to confirm your continued interest and organise the next set of dates. ‘Creative Smartphone Photography’ will help you access your own creativity via your phone camera. Most of us carry a phone around wherever we go, so the camera is an ideal and accessible tool for playful experimentation. You will learn plenty of technical and photography skills, which you’ll then use to create interesting and impactful images. You will also start to think about everyday objects that can add interesting DIY twists to your photos. During some weeks, we will focus on a specific topic or technique such as black and white photography or portraiture. You will also be introduced to Snapseed, a wonderful free photo editing tool. We will discuss other photographers’ work to inspire and challenge us, as well as sharing our own work with each other. *How long is the course, and what is the structure of each session?* Creative Smartphone Photography runs from 1-3pm every Thursday afternoon for 6 weeks. We ask that you commit to attending all 6 sessions where possible, to allow you and others to develop confidence in sharing your work and perspectives. We will start each class by inviting you to share some of your own photos from the week and what inspired you to create them. We will then look at other photographers’ work on a particular theme that links to the day’s topic. You will then have plenty of chance to engage in practical activities relating to the theme. By the end of the course, we will have a selection of images to share more widely via an online gallery (if you wish to participate in this). *Are there any materials or equipment that students need to bring?* Just a fully charged smart phone. *Who is this course best suited for?* The Creative Smartphone Photography course is a mixture of technical and creative skills. Therefore, you may be more interested in one aspect than the other and that’s absolutely fine as sessions are a blend of both. You’re welcome as a beginner, but will also gain a lot if you feel fairly confident with the technical side of things, as there is plenty to stretch your creativity too.
