Assembly Arts provides access to a range of facilities including:

Art Room

With space available for up to twenty participants, the Art Room is available for hire for classes, workshops, talks and events at £20 per hour (£15 to members) with a minimum of 3 hours per booking.  The light and airy room is approximately 40m2 and is equipped with a range of easels, tables and chairs and it's own sink unit. We have a flip board, blue tooth speaker and a projector which can be requested. To date, the room has hosted film screenings, creative well-being courses, painting classes, networking events and more.

You can book the art room for a private or public event by contacting us directly. 

Main Studio

Occupying the light and spacious historic dance hall at the centre of the Assembly Rooms building, studio tenants have 24 hour access, 365 days of the year. Assembly Arts are pleased to be able to offer unique and exciting opportunities for creatives to establish and grow their practice in the centre of Lancaster. Over the past year our artists have taken part in group and solo shows in our gallery space, open studios and teaching as part of the School of Assembly Arts.

Office Space/Writer's retreat

We have a delightful self contained and light 5m2 space that is perfect for writers, digital illustrators or similar, to start or complete a project. It is available to hire and we'd love to know what you could bring to the studio if you came and made it your workspace for a while. Please get in contact.

 

Ceramics

Our ceramics space contains an electric Shimpo whisper-T Pottery wheel, complete with full batt system, and a traditional kick wheel. Standing height working/wedging table, plenty of storage and a range of clays and glazes. We have a small Rhode 43l kiln which fires up to 1300C.

 

It's the perfect space to work on a project with no distractions, and is available for experienced potters to hire in 3 hour blocks after an induction has been completed. 

 

Hire includes free use of reclaim. Other clays are available to buy on site. Firing work made on site and at home is permitted and can be paid for separately. 

Screen printing

Screen printing facilities including an exposure unit, print bed, washout and screens which can be booked by experienced practitioners. 

Black and white Darkroom

A range of bookable black and white photographic processing and printing resources including enlargers, trays and tanks. 

Gallery

Used to showcase a range of work, our gallery space is situated at the main entrance to Assembly Arts.

Storage space

We provide a range of lockers and storage cupboards for hire by users.

Art is a process. Its expressing yourself and doing something, and throwing yourself into it and getting better at it and trying again. Thats what its about.
